Rare Scheier Vessel

A wonderful early Scheier vessel thrown by Mary and carved by Edwin. This pieces dates from early in their careers (mid 1950’s) and has beautiful primitive style scraffito carving. The vessel measures: 6.5″ tall and 28″ around. It does have a very fine hair line fault that occurred in the firing.

Monumental Clare Yares Mobile

Clare Yares enameled steel mobile circa mid 1960’s. This magnificent moving sculpture measures 6 feet across and has 12 movable arms. The frame itself is enameled black steel and the circular accents are enameled in red. Excellent original condition.

Fantastic Brutalist Wall Sculpture

Large scale steel rod and hand cut patinated steel wall sculpture circa mid 1960’s. This example has dark to light shades of bronze and nickel throughout and can be hung vertically or horizontally.

Patinated steel sculpture by Arizona artist Spero circa mid 1970’s. Each rod and circle is meant to depict a season. This work can be used indoors or out.

Large Scale Heavily Patinated Folk Art Bull

Wonderful folk/tramp art bull from Mexico circa 1940’s. This hand carved wood sculpture has layers of original patina and is the sort of piece that transcends styles. It can be placed in the mix with mid century pieces or to create whimsy in any room.
This was purchased from a prominent Phoenix artist’s estate who collected unusual mid century, African and Mexican sculpture furniture and objects.

Jesus Leeus Figural Painting

Jesus Leuus acrylic with marble dust painting circa 1964. This example has two figures who appear to be pondering the imponderables.Leeus is one of Mexico’s more important second generation modernists after the likes of Rivera Siqueiros and Orozco. He studied under Zalce Lozano and his works are in museums and collections world wide.

Mother & Child Painting by Shoshannah

Oil on linen painting by Shoshannah entitled ‘Private Life’ circa 1959. Shoshannah taught at the Chicago Art Institute and exhibited her works for only a brief part of her life. This piece was purchased from her son and is from a small Mother and Child series that she did in the late 1950’s. Shoshannah’s husband was a cabinet maker and custom made this frame for the piece.

Early Dorothy Fratt Color Block Acrylic Painting

Arizona artist Dorothy Fratt did abstract color block paintings in the 80’s and 90’s. This example is entitled “Gulf of California” and measures 54″ x 42″. Fratt had Rothko’s sensibility for color and subtlety with a hint of the southwest in some of her works. Gulf of California is a large early work for Fratt.
